Who Got the Edge
Pipe Pistol vs Gestapo Knife: The
Gestapo
Knife
gets
the
edge.
The
Pipe
Pistol
was
an
ingenous
device,
consisting
of
a
small
pistol
mechanism
set
within
a
handheld
pipe.
To
fire
the
pistol,
the
operator
twisted
the
pipe's
bowl
while
holding
the
stem,
sending
the
bullet
out
from
where
the
person
would
put
it
in
his
mouth.
Problem
is,
the
operator
would
have
to
get
in
close
for
it
to
work,
and
they
didn't
always
want
to
get
in
close.
With
the
Gestapo
Knife,
you
could
hit
somebody
and
kill
them,
and
not
have
to
worry
about
reloading.
Welrod Silenced Pistol vs Mauser HSc Pistol: The
Welrod
Silenced
Pistol
gets
the
edge.
It
had
a
longer
barrel
length
(95mm
compared
to
the
HSc's
barrel
length
of
86mm),
and
a
(very)
slightly
higher
ammo
capacity
(8
rounds
compared
to
the
HSc's
ammo
capacity
of
7
rounds).
On
top
of
that,
the
Welrod
had
a
built
in
silencer,
and
could
kill
a
target
without
them
hearing
the
shot.
Sten MK IIS vs MP28: The
MP28
gets
the
edge.
It
has
a
greater
barrel
length
than
the
MK
IIS
(200m
compared
to
90mm),
rate
of
fire
(550
to
600
rounds
a
minute,
compared
to
the
MK
IIS's
firing
rate
of
450
rounds
a
minute),
firing
range
(100
to
150
meters,
compared
to
the
MK
IIS's
firing
range
of
50
to
100
meters),
and
could
accept
a
wider
variety
of
clip
sizes
(The
MP28
could
take
either
20
or
32
round
clips,
while
the
MK
IIS
could
only
accept
32
round
clips).
The
only
advantage
that
the
Sten
MKIIS
had
over
the
MP28
is
the
built
in
silencer
it
had,
and
even
then
it
had
problems.
Manuals
for
the
MKIIS
said
to
fire
the
gun
in
semi-auto
mode
only,
and
use
full-auto
as
a
last
resort,
because
using
full-auto
constantly
would
compromise
the
silencer's
service
life.
Coal Bomb vs Stick Grenade: Both
explosives
get
the
edge.
The
Coal
Bomb
was
another
clever
tool
in
the
arsenal
of
the
S.I.S.
The
bomb
was
disguised
as
an
ordinary
piece
of
coal,
and
inside
was
the
explosive
material.
All
an
operator
had
to
do
was
throw
the
bomb
into
a
fire,
and
the
heat
would
activate
the
explosive
materials
inside.
Problem
was,
it
would
take
minutes
before
the
bomb
exploded.
On
the
other
hand,
waiting
a
few
minutes
for
a
target
to
be
taken
out
was
sometimes
a
good
thing.
With
the
Gestapo's
Stick
Grenade,
they
could
carry
it
with
them,
and
when
they
needed
to
take
someone
out,
they
simply
pulled
the
pin,
and
threw
the
grenade
to
it's
intended
destination.
Setup
Berlin,
Germany.
1944.
The
fatherland
was
getting
pummled
by
the
Americans
&
Britain
from
the
West,
the
former
ally
Italy
from
the
south,
and
the
Russians
from
the
east.
As
the
war
raged
on,
Hitler
commanded
his
army
to
defend
his
country,
yet
what
happened
behind
the
scenes
was
never
known...until
now.
On
a
particularly
busy
morning,
Dr.
Hans
Struger
was
making
his
way
through
the
crowded
streets,
constantly
looking
over
his
shoulder.
A
few
days
earlier,
he
had
decided
to
defect
from
Nazi
Germany,
and
managed
to
contact
London
through
a
secret
communication.
After
some
more
communications
with
London,
he
was
ordered
to
make
contact
with
the
S.I.S.
cell.
From
there,
he
would
be
taken
out
of
the
country,
and
into
safe
ally
hands.
He
was
paranoid
throughout
the
entire
time,
especially
since
the
Gestapo
may
have
been
listening
in
on
his
talks
with
the
British.
Dr.
Struger
was
within
a
few
feet
of
the
cell
building,
when
he
looked
over
his
shoulder
again,
and
saw
two
men
in
trenchcoats
standing
far
behind
him.
Sweat
dripped
from
his
forehead,
and
his
heart
beated
faster
for
a
moment.
He
looked
back
and
the
building,
and
spend
up
his
pace.
He
gripped
the
doorhandle,
and
quickly
walked
right
in.
He
looked
out
the
window,
and
saw
the
two
trenchcoated
men
still
walking
towards
the
place.
Dr.
Struger
breathed
a
sigh
of
relief.
He
took
off
his
coat,
and
placed
it
on
an
old
coatrack
to
his
left.
He
looked
around,
and
didn't
see
anybody
at
first.
He
took
a
seat
in
a
chair
right
next
to
a
small
table.
On
it
was
a
small
mug,
and
a
bottle
of
german
ale.
Feeling
a
little
parched,
Dr.
Struger
popped
open
the
bottle,
and
poured
in
the
alcoholic
relief.
He
took
a
drink,
and
felt
relieved.
Just
then,
a
voice
came
out.
"Feeling
better?"
Dr.
Struger
was
startled
by
the
voice,
and
fell
right
out
of
his
seat.
A
young
man
came
right
over,
and
lifted
the
poor
doctor
back
to
his
feet.
He
wiped
off
his
clothes,
and
gave
him
a
small
towel.
He
wiped
off
the
ale
that
splashed
his
face
when
he
fell
out
of
the
chair,
and
placed
the
soaked
towel
onto
the
table.
"Thank
you
my
friend."
the
doctor
said.
"Mind
telling
me
your
name?"
"Simon."
the
young
man
replied.
"I'm
new
to
the
S.I.S.
You
must
be
Dr.
Struger."
"Indeed."
replied
the
doctor.
"Where
is
everyone
else?"
Simon
cleared
his
throat,
then
spoke
back.
"There's
an
agent
hiding
in
the
alleyway
to
the
left
of
this
building,
another
one
sitting
in
front
of
this
place,
and
the
other
two
agents
are
upstairs
getting
ready
to
leave.
You
have
the
documents?"
Dr.
Struger
reached
over
into
his
coat,
and
pulled
out
a
small
stack
of
papers.
He
handed
them
right
over
to
Simon,
who
quickly
flipped
right
through
them.
"These
look
good."
he
said.
"I'll
bring
them
upstairs,
then
we'll
get
ready
to
leave."
Dr.
Struger
knodded,
and
Simon
went
upstairs
to
talk
with
the
other
two
S.I.S.
agents
about
the
papers.
Meanwhile,
Simon
sat
down,
and
started
to
pour
another
drink,
when
he
saw
the
two
trenchcoats
getting
closer
and
closer
to
the
cell
base.
He
stopped
drinking,
and
ran
right
up
the
stairs
to
tell
Simon
what
was
going
on.
A
second
later,
and
Dr.
Struger
bursted
right
through
the
door.
Simon
and
the
two
other
S.I.S.
agents
were
started
by
the
good
doctor's
entrance.
"Doctor,
are
you
alright?"
asked
Simon.
"No."
the
doctor
said.
"There's
two
men
from
the
Gestapo
coming
towards
here.
What
are
we
going
to
do?"
Simon
placed
a
hand
on
Dr.
Struger's
shoulder.
"Don't
worry,
we
got
this
covered."
he
said.
"Just
stay
up
here,
and
don't
look
out
the
window."
Simon
headed
downstairs
to
speak
with
the
two
agents
outside,
leaving
the
weary
doctor
upstairs
to
recover.
A
moment
later,
Simon
came
back
inside,
and
called
down
the
doctor
to
have
some
quick
words
with
him.
"Okay
Doctor,
hide
out
in
the
basement
for
a
little
bit.
We'll
come
down
and
bring
you
back
up
here
when
things
look
clear."
"Thank
You."
replied
Dr.
Struger.
He
walked
downstairs,
and
straight
into
the
basement.
He
realized
that
he
left
his
coat
upstairs,
but
given
the
situation,
didn't
bother
to
go
back
up
to
get
it.
After
3
minutes,
the
two
Gestapo
agents
arrived
at
the
safe
house.
Both
were
very
serious
looking,
and
any
kind
of
nonsense
would
make
them
kill
their
target.
One
of
the
agents
knocked
the
door
of
the
safe
house,
and
a
timid
Simon
opened
the
door.
"Can
I
help
you?"
he
asked,
making
sure
to
use
as
best
of
a
German
accent
as
he
could.
"Yes
you
can."
replied
one
of
the
agents.
"You
see,
your
house
came
up
in
an
investigation
of
ours,
and
we
came
to
inspect
this
place.
Do
you
have
anything
to
hide?"
"Nnnno,
sir."
Simon
replied,
laying
on
the
act
as
much
as
possible.
"Good."
the
agent
replied.
"Rolf,
stay
outside
and
may
sure
nobody...funny
looking
tries
to
get
inside."
Rolf
simply
nodded.
"Yes
Mr.
Lindemann."
were
the
only
words
that
he
spoke.
Mr.
Lindemann
walked
right
inside,
still
speaing
with
Simon.
Meanwhile,
Rolf
stood
in
front
of
the
door,
and
keeping
an
eye
out
for
anybody
suspicious.
The
only
person
he
noticed
was
an
old
man
sitting
on
a
chair
right
in
front
of
him,
holding
a
small
smoking
pipe.
Suddenly,
the
old
man
got
up,
and
walked
right
over
to
Rolf,
who
at
this
time
was
starting
to
feel
a
bit
nervous.
"It's
alright
sonny,
I'm
not
going
to
hurt
you."
the
old
man
said.
"I
was
wondering
if
you
had
a
light
on
you.
I
left
my
matches
at
home.
Could
you
help
me?"
Rolf
nodded,
and
pulled
out
his
book
of
matches.
The
old
man
ripped
one
off,
and
turned
around
to
light
his
pipe.
He
shook
the
match,
and
dropped
it
to
the
ground.
Rolf
went
right
back
to
looking
for
strangers,
when
the
old
man
suddenly
turned
around,
pointed
his
smoking
pipe
right
at
him,
and
somehow
released
a
bullet
from
the
pipe.
Rolf
felt
a
sharp
pain
going
through
his
neck,
and
he
thought
he
smelt
gunsmoke
coming
from
the
old
man's
pipe.
Immediately,
he
took
out
his
knife,
and
stabbed
the
old
man
in
the
chest.
After
that,
the
two
men
fell
on
the
ground,
and
died.
WW2 S.I.S.: 4/Gestapo: 4
Mr.
Lindemann
though
he
heard
a
strange
noise,
but
he
simply
ignored
it
as
he
went
back
to
inspecting
the
safe
house.
After
he
had
searched
through
the
place,
he
took
Simon
back
downstairs,
and
spoke
with
him
one
last
time.
"My
good
friend,
everything
seems
to
be
in
proper
order.
All
I
have
to
do
is
check
the
basement,
then
me
and
my
partner
will
get
out
of
your
business."
"Wait,
before
you
do
that,
how
about
a
glass
of
beer?"
Simon
suddenly
blurted
out.
Mr.
Lindemann
paused
for
a
moment.
"Sure.
I
am
feeling
a
little
parched."
he
replied.
"Alright
then."
said
Simon.
"Sit
down
right
there,
and
I'll
get
you
your
beer.
Let
me
just
put
some
more
coal
in
the
fire,
and
I'll
go
get
it."
Simon
walked
right
over
to
the
small
stove,
and
pulled
out
a
good
chunk
of
coal
from
the
burlap
sack
next
to
the
stove.
He
opened
the
door,
and
tossed
the
coal
into
the
stove.
He
then
went
to
the
basement
door,
and
with
a
few
words
of
"I'll
be
right
back",
closed
the
door
and
went
down
the
basement
steps.
Dr.
Struger
noticed
Simon
coming
into
the
basement,
and
went
over
to
speak
with
him.
"Simon,
what's
going
on?"
the
doctor
asked.
"Just
get
down,
and
cover
your
ears."
replied
Simon.
The
two
men
went
to
a
corner
of
the
basement,
crouched
right
down,
and
covered
their
ears.
A
minute
later,
and
a
loud
band
went
through
the
safe
house.
The
two
men
promptly
got
up,
and
went
back
upstairs.
When
Simon
opened
the
door,
he
beheld
a
sight
of
scrap
metal,
chunks
of
coal,
and
a
shredded
corpse.
WW2 S.I.S.:4/Gestapo: 3
Dr.
Struger
uncovered
his
ears,
and
waited
for
the
ringing
to
stop.
"What
was
that?"
the
doctor
asked.
"Oh,
just
a
little
surprise
for
our
friend
unstairs."
Simon
replied.
"Come
on.
The
safe
house
has
been
compromised,
and
we
need
to
leave
now."
"Very
well."
the
doctor
replied.
"Just
let
me
get
my
coat,
then
we'll
leave."
Simon
nodded,
then
went
upstairs
to
check
on
the
3
other
S.I.S.
agents
cleaning
up
the
place.
Dr.
Struger
was
impressed
by
the
little
bomb
that
Simon
used
to
take
out
the
Gestapo
agent.
He
went
to
the
coatrack,
and
put
on
his
coat.
He
felt
all
over
it
to
make
sure
that
nothing
fell
out
in
the
ensuing
ruckus.
Fortunately,
the
most
important
item
he
had
with
him
wasn't
damaged
at
all.
A
moment
later,
Simon
walked
down
the
stairs,
along
with
the
3
other
S.I.S.
agents.
They
were
wearing
some
heavy
coats,
which
probably
concealed
some
firepower
in
case
they
needed
it.
Simon
went
to
the
closet
in
front
of
the
basement
entrance,
and
took
his
coat
and
cap.
Dr.
Struger
didn't
see
him
pick
up
a
gun,
but
he
assumed
it
was
already
hidden
in
the
coat.
"Okay
doctor,
let's
go."
said
Simon,
and
the
group
went
out
the
front
door.
"Simon,
how
are
we
getting
out
of
the
city?"
Dr.
Struger
asked.
"There's
a
car
not
far
from
here."
replied
Simon.
"We'll
drive
it
to
the
docks,
and
we'll
take
a
getaway
boat
to
England.
From
there,
you'll
be
safe
in
allied
hands."
"I
hope
so."
the
doctor
said.
The
group
stepped
out
onto
the
busy
streets
of
Berlin.
It's
a
bit
more
busy
than
I
thought
it
was
going
to
be
today,
Simon
thought
to
himself.
Regardless,
he
directed
the
doctor
and
the
rest
of
the
group
to
the
car
they
were
going
to
use.
It
was
a
car
used
by
just
about
everybody
else
in
the
city,
and
they
would
go
almost
unnoticed
by
the
checkpoint
guards
if
they
didn't
screw
something
up.
There
were
within
a
foot
or
two
of
the
car,
when
two
more
Gestapo
agents
were
walking
behind
them.
Dr.
Struger
started
to
panic,
when
Simon
told
him
to
keep
walking,
and
to
not
look
back.
They
reached
the
car,
and
Simon
and
the
doctor
got
in
the
front
first.
One
of
the
S.I.S.
agents
got
in
the
back
seat,
while
the
other
2
stayed
outside
to
deal
with
the
Gestapo.
"Excuse
me."
said
one
of
the
S.I.S.
agents.
"Can
we
help
you?"
"Yes.
Yes
you
can."
one
of
the
Gestapo
said,
pulling
out
a
MP28
from
his
coat.
He
started
sprayed
lead
right
into
the
two
S.I.S.
agents,
dropping
them
onto
the
street,
and
sending
the
local
populace
into
a
panic.
WW2 S.I.S.: 2/Gestapo: 3
"****!"
the
S.I.S.
agent
in
the
back
of
the
car
yelled
out.
He
drew
his
Welrod
Silenced
Pistol
from
his
coat,
and
started
shooting
right
back
at
the
Gestapo.
Most
of
the
clip
went
right
into
one
of
the
Gestapo
agents,
sending
him
into
a
vegetable
cart,
and
bloodying
up
the
vegetables.
The
few
stray
bullets
fortunately
went
into
the
vegetables,
and
not
into
any
innocents.
WW2 S.I.S.: 2/Gestapo: 2
The
other
Gestapo
agent
started
making
a
run
for
it.
The
S.I.S.
agent
put
his
pistol
back
in
his
coat,
and
told
Simon
to
start
up
the
car.
The
engine
came
to
life
as
Simon
turned
the
key,
and
with
a
push
of
the
gas,
they
were
on
their
way.
"That's
was
a
close
one."
a
partially
stunned
Dr.
Struger
said.
"Indeed."
replied
Simon.
They
were
now
on
their
way
to
the
docks,
where
their
escape
boat
was
waiting.
All
seemed
to
be
okay,
when
Simon
noticed
a
black
car
driving
up
behind
them.
At
first,
he
thought
it
was
just
a
rich
person
on
a
afternoon
drive.
Things
started
to
get
a
little
bit
tense
when
the
car
drove
up
to
their
right.
The
driver
of
the
other
car
rolled
down
their
window,
and
pulled
out
a
Mauser
HSc
pistol,
and
started
firing.
Simon
&
Dr.
Struger
ducked
down
to
avoid
getting
shot,
but
the
S.I.S.
agent
in
the
back
wasn't
so
lucky.
Two
bullets
went
right
into
his
head,
killing
him
in
an
instant.
WW2 S.I.S.: 1/Gestapo: 2
"Damnit!"
Simon
shouter.
"Doctor,
hold
onto
something!"
Dr.
Struger
just
held
onto
the
door,
and
Simon
pushed
down
the
gas
pedal
down
all
the
way,
accelerating
the
car
even
further.
The
black
car
behind
them
seemed
to
slow
down
for
a
second,
then
suddenly
speed
up.
From
there
it
was
an
intense
race
thorugh
the
streets
of
Berlin.
The
populace
were
scared
that
two
cars
were
driving
around,
almost
hitting
innocent
people.
Simon,
despite
his
speed,
was
careful
not
to
hit
anybody.
A
few
minutes
later,
and
the
two
speeding
cars
were
near
the
docks.
They
were
neck
and
neck,
and
Simon
just
hoped
that
their
tires
wouldn't
wear
out
by
the
time
they
got
to
the
boat.
The
black
car
got
right
up
to
them
again,
and
that's
when
SImon
got
an
idea.
"You
still
holding
on
tight?"
he
asked
Dr.
Struger.
"Yes."
the
doctor
replied.
"Why
do
you
ask?"
"Cause
I'm
doing
to
do
something...stupid."
said
Simon,
as
he
started
ramming
the
other
car.
The
doctor
just
held
on
tighter,
and
hoped
that
his
door
didn't
pop
off.
Simon
kept
bashing
the
other
car,
pushing
it
further
&
further
to
the
edge.
This
kept
going
on
for
at
least
4
minutes,
when
Simon
finally
rammed
the
car
hard
enough
to
push
the
other
one
off
the
road.
The
black
car
started
flying
towards
the
war,
and
after
a
couple
of
seconds,
it
landed
into
the
ocean,
and
it
slowly
sank
into
the
cold
depths.
Simon
slowed
down,
and
then
stopped
the
car.
He
&
Dr.
Struger
got
out,
and
ran
back
to
where
the
car
drove
off
the
road.
When
they
got
back,
the
car
finally
was
underwater,
giving
it's
occupant
a
grisly
death.
WW2 S.I.S.: 1/Gestapo: 1
Simon
took
out
a
small
camera,
and
took
a
picture
of
where
the
bubbles
were
still
coming
up
from
the
sinking
car
as
a
dark
reminder
of
his
job.
The
flash
came
out,
and
the
camera
went
back
inside
the
coat.
"I
guess
that's
the
end
of
that."
"No,
it's
not."
the
doctor
replied.
"Huh?"
said
Simon.
A
loud
bang
formed
right
behind
him,
sending
his
body
flying
down
into
the
ocean.
The
body
sank
in
less
than
a
minute.
