Scythian Warrior vs Knight

Beginning Analysis: What happens when a precursor of the huns takes on a shining paragon of virtue? Read on to see who...is...deadliest!?

Scythian Warrior
Short Range: Scythian Sword
Medium Range: Scythian Spear
Long Range: Scythian Bow & Arrow
Special: Scythian Axe
Armor: Scale Mail & Iron Helmet

Knight
Short Range: Broadsword
Medium Range: Halberd
Long Range: Arbalest Crossbow
Special: Morningstar
Armor: Full Plate

Who Got the Edge
Scythian Sword vs Broadsword: The Broadsword gets the edge. It's blade is much longer than that of the Scythian's sword, and has a greater chance of getting through the Scythian's Scale Mail than the Scythian Sword has of getting through the Knight's Full Plate.
Scythian Spear vs Halberd: The Halberd gets the edge. Although both weapons are about the same length, the Halberd has far more versitility (hacking, stabbing, and hooking) than the Scythian Spear (stabbing). The Scythian Spear, however, has a good chance of piercing the Knight's Full Plate.
Scythian Bow & Arrow vs Arbalest Crossbow: The Scythian Bow & Arrow gets the edge. Operating a bow is easier than operating a crossbow, and a Scythian can get more arrows flying through the air than a Knight can with his bolts.
Scythian Axe vs Morningstar: The Morningstar gets the edge. The Scythian Axe is great against targets without headgear, but the Knight is wearing a durable steel helmet (watch Pirate vs Knight for proof).  On top of that, the Morningstar has a greater reach than the axe, and can kill a target with a single blow to the head.
Scale Mail & Iron Helment vs Full Plate: The Knight's Full Plate gets the edge. The Scythian's Scale Mail only covered his torso, leaving his legs & arms totally exposed, and was capable of taking only light to moderate blows. His Helmet, on the other hand, could deflect projectiles, and take a physical blow to the head if the attack wasn't too powerful. The Knight's Full Plate, on the other hand, covers him from head to toe, and can take all manner of attacks.

Setup
On a windswept plain, a Scythian Warrior was looking out on the horizon. The sun was just beginning to set, turning the sky a beautiful golden-red color. The wind was gentle, and carried with it a subtle warmth that could be felt on the face. The warrior was on his way home after a series of skirmishes against the Gauls, all of which he one single handed. The fight that was to come, however, would push his skills to the limit.
As he was riding over a small hill, the warrior noticed smoke rising into the air. He got to the top of the hill, and noticed a small camp, where a armored figure was tending to some meat over a spit. He recognized the armored figure as a Knight, one of the few foes that he'd never face before. Seeing an opportunity to add to his resume of opponents slain, the warrior took his bow from his horse's saddle, and picked a barbed arrow from the quiver on his back. He knocked it, aimed, and fired.
The arrow went flying towards the Knight. It hit the target, but the arrow bounced off the plate. The knight, feeling the arrow bounce off his armor, saw the Scythian who shot at him. The warrior was raising another arrow, just as he was raising his crossbow to return fire. Both men shot at the same time, and arrow & bolt flew at each other. A second later, both projectiles hit each other, and fell to the ground.
Irritated, the Scythian placed his bow back onto his horse's saddle, then grasped the spear that he thrusted into the ground before his assault, and rode away. Not wanting to show cowardice, the Knight went for his own horse, as well as his Halberd, and rode after his attacker.
Both men were now on a flat part of the plains. They stared each other down, looking for some kind of opening. Then, the Scythian starting galloping towards the knight, holding his spear straight in front of him. To counter such an obvious attack, the Knight charged with his Halberd straight outward, with an obvious emphasis on the point of the weapon. A moment later, and both spear and Halberd made contact. The spear shattered into pieces, and the tipe flew into the air. The Scythian, stunned by the attack, drew out his sword, and waited for the Knight to make another pass at him.
The Knight charged the Scythian, all the while noticing that his opponent wasn't moving. It didn't matter, as he wouldn't allow a coward to stand in front of him. The Knight was within striking distance with his Halberd, when the Scythian miracuously dodged the point of the weapon, and sliced it in half with his sword. The Knight, furious at his inability to notice such an attack, drew his Broadsword, and got off his horse. The Scythian did the same.
They walked towards each other, and immediately started swinging their blades. The Scythian, being the faster of the two warriors, was getting in more blows than his armored opponent. The Knight, meanwhile, was blocking the frenzied attacks that the Scythian was using. Finally, after getting frustrated, the Knight started swinging back with his Broadsword, hoping that the heavier blade would either break the Scythian's sword, or somehow go through the the scaled armor of his opponent.
Sure enough, the Broadsword managed to hit the Scythian's sword out of his hand. A secondary attack ending up in his opponent's side. The Scythian went down to his knees, grasping the fresh wound. The Knight, seeing an opportunity to end the fight with a single blow, gripped his Broadsword tightly in both hands, and raised it high above his head. Just as he was about to lower his sword, the Scythian suddenly tackled the Knight, wailing on his body with some kind of axe. With a punch to the head, the Knight sent the Scythian flying.
The Knight got back up to feet, and saw the Scythian still standing with his axe, but he noticed that his opponent wasn't wearing his helmet. He went back to his horse to get the one weapon that would finally end this: his Morningstar. He made it back to his horse in time to grab the weapon, just as the Scythian started coming after him. They started fighting again, when the Knight managed to swing the Morningstar, and hit the axe out of the Scythian's hand. The Scythian watched his axe fly away, then felt cold steel landing on his head.

Weakest Weapon: With an embarrassing 5 kills, the Scythian Axe takes the weakest weapon spot.

  1. That seems kind of unfair there. I mean, the Scythian don't even have steel weapons.
