William Wallice vs Sparticus

Beginning Analysis: What happens when freedom fighters from opposite ends of the globe collide. Read on to see who...is...deadliest!?

William Wallice
Short Range (1): Warhammer
Short Range (2): Claymore Sword
Long Range: Ball & Chain
Special: Targe Shield
Armor: Chainmail

Sparticus
Short Range (1): Dolabra Pick-Axe
Short Range (2): Gladius Sword
Long Range: Pilum Javelin
Special: Tower Shield
Armor: Roman Ringmail

Who Got the Edge
Warhammer vs Dolabra: The Warhammer gets the edge. Both weapons with get through each other's armor, but the Warhammer won't get stuck if you bash at a shield, while the Dolabra will get stuck.
Claymore vs Gladius: The Claymore gets the edge. It length with keep someone at bay, and it's cutting power will guarantee a kill no matter what. The Gladius will definately see kills, but it's length will insure that it doesn't get as many kills as the claymore.
Ball & Chain vs Pilum: The Pilum gets the edge. If the Pilum hits Wallice's shield, it'll get stuck, and the shield will more than likely become useless. If the Pilum goes through Wallice's armor, then he won't be able to pull the Javelin out. With the Ball & Chain, Sparticus can deflect it with his shield, and it won't go through his armor (although it will definately break bones).
Targe Shield vs Tower Shield: Both shields get the edge. With Wallice's Targe shield, he has a light defense with a heavy offense if he puts his entire body behind the attack. Sparticus's Tower Shield gives him a simultaneous heavy offense & defense, and it will easliy deflect Wallice's Ball & Chain.
Chainmail vs Roman Ringmail: Both armors get the edge. They're both light, inexpensive, and are relatively common during their respective times.

Setup
It was hell on Mount Vesuvius. Sparticus and the newly freed slaves were fighting the Roman soldiers that were sent to stop this little rebellion. Unfortunately, and surprisingly, the Romans were getting the snot kicked out of them. When word started getting back to the leaders in Rome, they were getting furious at the Legion's inability to stop the slaves. They had to think of something, but an individual wandering through the empire gave them a possible edge against Sparticus and his slaves.
During the whole political debacle, and far from their prying eyes, William Wallice was wandering through the Roman Empire, looking for the one who had killed his love. The sight of his love's corpse was burnt into his mind for all time, and vengeance was something he thought about most of the time. Although he assumed that the English had killed her, there was something about her death that seemed a little more...savage. So he saluted his comrades, and took a boat to the land where he guessed his love's killer was.
Wallice finally arrived at the docks near the mount, and the sight was immense. The townsfolk were in a state of frenzied panic. Given that the fighting wasn't so far away, most of them were packing up a few essentials, and leaving the seaside town. Those few who remained behind armed themselves with whatever they could find, and barricaded their homes. Wallice just ignorned them, and walked in the direction of the fighting. A few of the townsfolk that still didn't get into their homes were trying to warn him, but Wallice just shrugged them off.

The sides of the mount were currently in a strange state of calm, despite the scars of battle. Bodies were strewn all over the place, and abandoned campsites stood silently still. It was a sight that William was accustomed to in Scotland, but over in this new foreign land, they seemed a little more exotic. With a simple shrug, he kept on walking along the mount, towards his target, and once the deed was done...peace.
William Wallice finally reached an armed camp, and within was his love's murderer. The one thing that seemed to put his plan on hold were the guards patroling all sides of the camp. They were wearing armor that Wallice had never seen before, and weapons that looked very new to him. After a few moments, William's only tactic that came into his head was to charge right in, and slaughter as many enemies as he could. He might die in the process, but it was expected.
The guards to the camp were continuing their patrols, unaware of the screaming lunatic running towards them. One of the guards in the tower eventually caught sight of Wallice, who signaled the guards patroling the front of the base to get ready for the attack. Sparticus, who was arroused by his men at the front of the camp, got out of his tent, picking up his Dolabra, Gladus Sword, and Tower Shield. He showed up at the gate, just in time to see some of his soldiers attacking a crazed lunatic.
Wallice, meanwhile, was swinging his Warhammer left and right, hitting soldiers in the chest cracking some ribs, and some on the head, caving their skulls in. The soldier in the tower came climbing down the ladder as quick as he could, with a Pilum right on his back. He got within sight of Wallice, and readied himself to throw it. It flew out of his hand, and was going to hit it's target, but was knocked out of the way by the Warhammer. Wallice then dropped his Warhammer, and took the Ball & Chain off of his waist. I pray to God I actually hit something with this, he thought to himself. He gripped the weapon with his right hand, and began spinning around. The Pilum thrower was oddly mesmerized by Wallice's spinning, and when the Ball & Chain flew out of William's hand, and hit the soldier square in the forehead, he wasn't mesmerized anymore. I actually hit something, Wallice excitingly thought to himself.
After picking up his Warhammer, William finally spotted Sparticus, who seemed quite surprised by the arrival of this bloodthirstly individual. Not even I could have killed so many people at one time, and I was a Gladiator, Sparticus thought to himself.
"You!" Wallice yelled out, pointing his Warhammer right at Sparticus. "You are the one who killed my love!"
"What?" Sparticus asked puzzlingly. "I have no idea what you are talking about!"
"Yes you do." Wallice responded. "Now dieeeeeeeeeeeee!"
William Wallice charged Sparticus, holding his Warhammer high above his head, and pointing his Targe Shield outward. Sparticus got into a defensive stance, planting his Tower Shield onto the ground, and gripping his Dolabra in one hand. With this setup, he was sure to take out this bloodthirsty lunatic.

Wallice closed the distance in a matter of moments, and immediately began striking at Sparticus's Tower Shield. Sparticus stood his ground, but cracks started showing up, which worried him slightly. He swung his Dolabra in response to the madman's attack, and managed to get it stuck in his opponent's spiked shield. Wallice tried to take the axe out, but found that it was stunk in their more than he thought. He almost had it out, when Sparticus swung his Tower Shield, knocking Wallice to the ground.
Wallice was stunned by the attack, but luckily, the axe that was stuck in his shield had been dislodged. Getting back up to his feet, Wallice saw his opponent draw a short sword, gripping it tightly. Wallice still had his Warhammer, and his Targe Shield was still in one piece. He shoved his Targe Shield right in the middle of the Tower Shield, piercing the metal cap, and went right through the back of Sparticus's hand. He howled out in pain, kicking Wallice away from him. Sparticus dropped his Gladius, and got to work trying to pull out the spiked shield. Within a few seconds, the spiked shield was pulled out, but his Tower Shield was ruined. Despite the immense pain, he reluctantly tossed aside his Tower Shield, and picked his Gladius back up from the ground. He flexed his left hand, and the pain was still immense, but it was bearable.
"I'll say this to you again...I didn't kill any love of yours!" Sparticus yelled.
"Liar!" William yelled back, and went back to swinging his Warhammer. Sparticus, tired of this lunatic, blocked with his Gladius. Gripping the head of the hammer, Sparticus broke the weapon with his Gladius. He tossed the hammer head to the ground, but his face was met with the broken handle. He was pushed back by the attack, and a small scratch on his face started bleeding. He looked back up, and saw that the lunatic had drawn a sword with a length that he'd never expected to see.
Wallace had a huge advantage now. The length of his Claymore would keep his love’s killer at bay, and the weight of the weapon would guarantee an instant kill. He saw his opponent look back at his broken shield, thinking perhaps he might be able to use it despite the damage, but couldn’t reach it in time as Wallace went it and started swinging. Sparticus lept back when the sword swung a little too close to his ringmail. When another attack came in, he raised his Gladius just in time to block the incoming blow. The force from the attack almost knocked his blade right out of his hand. He tried to get in closer, but the length of his opponent’s blade kept him at bay.

This is getting out of hand, Sparticus thought to himself. After a second or two, he tumbled right under Wallace’s sword, and actually took as swipe at his foe’s stomach. Despite the chainmail, a few droplets of blood were leaking out. Wallace seemed to be in some kind of pain, and dropped to one of his knees. Flipping his Gladius around, Sparticus prepared to stab his opponent right through the skull, when Wallace suddenly turned around, and ran his Claymore right through his opponent’s stomach. Sparticus just dropped to both his knees, and tried to hold his wound. He looked back up, just as his opponent swung his sword right through his neck, and sending his head flying.

Wallace took a small cloth from his pocket, and began wiping the blood off of his Claymore. I’m coming soon my love, he thought to himself.

  1. Hey, wouldn't Sparticus have weapons used by gladiators? I mean, why does he only have weapons you would usually see in the Roman Army?
