Polish GROM vs South African National Defense Force Weapon Preview

Polish GROM Weapons
Recon-1 Knife: Sometimes the deadliest things come in small packages, and the Recon-1 Knife is proof of that. The whole package is smaller than most people thing, measuring in at 9.33 inches, which included the 4 inch blade. Because of the size, the knife can be hidden on just about any part of the human body, ready to be used at any moment.

Benelli M4 Super 90 Shotgun: A little over a decade old, The Benelli M4 is an impressive firearm. The shotgun is a semi-auto weapon, meaning that it doesn't have to be pumped to chamber another round. The M4 also has an extending stock, which can be useful if you want to use the gun up-close, or at ranged in a more limited manner. If the Benelli requires cleaning, then the operator can take it apart without any tools. On top of that, it can be used in just about any weather condition, and not suffer any problems.

MP5 Submachine Gun: A very famous submachine gun with an equally impressive pedigree, the MP5 has served numerous police forces, militaries, and terrorist organizations. First appearing on the scene back in 1965, the MP5 is essentially nothing more than a shortened version of the G3 assault rifle. It shares that gun's quality & reliability, single-shot accuracy, flexibility, and the marketing. Ironically, the only other submachine gun that was just as popular (and still is) is the Israeli Uzi.

HK69 Grenade Launcher: Another weapon from Germany, the HK69 suits GROM's needs for an explosive launcher. Having been around since 1974, the weapon is very lightweight, as it come in at 2.76kg. The HK69 also has an extendable stock, making accurate shooting much more easlier. This launcher shares two things in common with the American M79 Grenade: The HK69 is a breech loaded grenade launcher, and it accepts a wide variety of shells, ranging from rubber shot, grenades, and gas rounds.

South African Defense Force
KA-BAR Knife: First appearing in the hands of American soldiers and French Foreign Legion (as the Camillus) during WW2, the KA-BAR is a knife that is now widely circulated throughout the world. How the knife got it's name is quite interesting: one day, the company that created the knife received a poorly written letter. Within the letter, the writer describe how the knife that he used helped him in killing a bear, using the initials "K A Bar". The company took the term, and has been using it ever since to name it's signature blade.

Striker Shotgun: The Striker is what happens when a revolver makes out with a shotgun, and gives birth to the shotgun's child. Developed in the 1980s by Hilton Walker in Rhodesia, he later moved the operation to South Africa, where the gun was finished. Originally, the Striker had a 12-round clip, but the clip was large & bulky, and caused problems. The clip was eventually discard, and replaced awith manually operated cylinder rotating mechanism (that still had a 12-shell capacity). The shotgun still had some features from the original model, including the DAO trigger, cylinder design, top-folding butt, and a auto-ejection feature for spent cases was added to speed up reloading.

BXP Submachine Gun: Developed by the Mechem company in South Africa in the mid-80s and was deployed in 88, the BXP is a submachine gun similar to the American MAC-10, but with some improvements. Unlike it's American relative, the BXP has a ambidextrous safety lever, and a separate fire mode selector built into the trigger. When the trigger is partially pressed, a single shot is fired, but when the trigger is fully pressed, the gun fires in full-auto. On top of that, the BXP has a wide variety of muzzle devices (silencers, heat shields, and grenade launchers that fire non-lethal and explosive projectiles by means of a blank cartridge). The BXP also features a underfolding buttstock made from stamped steel, and it can be equipped with laser aiming modules and collimating sights.

Milkor MLG Grenade Launcher: First produced in 1983, the MLG served the South African Defense Force for over 20 years, and it traveled to a few other countries in the meantime. One thing that it has in common with the Striker shotgun is the drum that holds the ammo, only in this case the MLG holds 6 grenades. The MLG is quite a powerful launcher, as it can fire off it's contents in under 3 seconds makes it great ambushes or swift urban warfare. Ironically, the MLG shares a common feature with the HK69, and it's that it can accept a variety of shells for usage.
