Heinrich Himmler vs Osama Bin Laden Weapon Preview

Heinrich Himmler Weapons
Luger PO8 Pistol: A weapon that got popular in the hands of the SS. The Luger was first developed in 1898, and by 1900, Switzerland was the first to adopt the pistol, followed by Germany in 1902. The gun weighed in at 1.92 pound, making it a very light weapon. It was also a very accurate weapon, as it could hit targets up to 50 meters. Normally loaded with 8 rounds, a specialized carbine variety of the Luger was loaded with a 32-round drum, and was capable of rapid fire.

MP44 Assault Rifle: Without this gun, the assault rifle class of firearms would never exist. Even the term "Assault Rifle" has a legend. Supposidely, the term came about by Hitler himself. When he first caught wind of the weapon, he had an intense dislike for it. However, after he saw it in action, he had a change of heart. Even with his change in opinion, he didn't like the appearance of the gun. So, he and the Nazi Propaganda machine came up with the name Strumgewehr, or "Storm Rifle" to offset the appearance. The rest, whether real or imagined, is history.

Panzerfaust: Long before the modern world embraced disposable launchers, the Germans were using them in combat. The Panzerfaust first arrived on the battlefield in November of 1943, when they were first used against oncoming Russian tanks. The weapon was constructed rather simply: a long tube was the primary firing mechanism, and the rocket was placed in the upper portion of the tube. With a push on the trigger, the rocket would immediately fire out of the tube, and exploded when it impacted with it's target. After the rocket flew away, the firing tube was discared, since it now served no purpose at all

Bouncing Betty: If the Vietcong ever got their hands on this, they would have had a field day setting it in just about every place they saw. Called the Schrapnellmine by the Germans, the Bouncing Betty was a unique landmine. It got it's name from it's function: when tripped, the mine jumps up to about waist high, and explodes in a 360-degree radius, sending shrapnel and ball bearings into the bodies of unfortunate soldiers. Injuries from the Bouncing Betty were difficult, if not impossible to heal.

Makarov Pistol: Arriving in 1949, the Makarov Pistol replaced the Nagant 1895 Revolver & Tokarev TT-33 Pistol as the standard sidearm for the Russian police and military. The pistol was a very compact and light weapon, coming in at just 730 grams. With an effective range of 50 meters, it competes very well with the Luger in terms of firing distance. The Makarov also has an identical capacity of 8 rounds, although certain models could be equipped with 10-round or 12-round clips.

AK-47 Assault Rifle: If the MP44 is the father of all assault rifles, then the AK-47 is the all important child prodigy. First brought onto the battlefield way back in 1947 as a modified MKB.42 German machine carbine, the AK-47 is also one of history's most simplest guns. Composed of nothing more than stamped steel along with a wood stock and grip, the AK-47 has a track record of firepower and durability. Because of the way it's made, an AK-47 can qo up to 6 months before it has to be cleaned (unlike the early models of the M16, where it could go up to 2 to 3 weeks before it needed to be cleaned).

RPG-7 Rocket Launcher: One of the most recognizable rocket launchers in the world today. Adopted by the Soviets back in 1961, the RPG-7 was initially used as an anti-tank weapon. However, numerous other rockets were developed, widening it's purpose to include anti-personelle attacks. A variation of this rocket launcher, the RPG-7D, is a multi-part weapon used by airborne troops (it does the same thing as it's normal version, only this one can be taken apart and put back together).

PMN Mine: A very specialized explosive, the PMN Mine was designed to take out individual soldiers. What is most unusual about this weapon is the high amount of explosive packed inside it. 240 grams of TNT, to be more specific. After taking out the pin, and waiting 60 for the mine to arm itself, it was ready. The only thing that prevented it from exploding prematurely was for someone to step on it. The PMN isn't actually designed to kill, but rather destroy the leg that stepped on it. If the unfortunate victim didn't get medical attention, then the severe bloodloss, couple with the possibility of infection, would kill him.
