Mexican Army vs People's Liberation Army Weapon Preview

Mexican Army Weapons
Obregon Pistol: If you were to put this gun right next to a Colt M1911, you'd swear that they are the exact same thing. However, this gun is a little bit different than it's progenator, and two decades younger. The first thing that separates the two pistols is it's use of rotary barrel locking. The other different features of the Obregon include a single piece safety/slide stop lever, and a captive return spring rod. However, the basic design of the gun, single-action trigger, grip safety, and magazine capacity are virtually the same as the Colt M1911. Even the assembly & disassembly are practically the same as the M1911.

FX-05 Xiuhcoatl Assault Rifle: Just like the Obregon, if you were to put the FX-05 right next to the german HK G36, you would have a hard time telling the two apart. In actuality, the close similarity between the two rifles sparked a patent infringement case that HK eventually dismissed, saying that there are enough differences between the two guns, and stating that the FX-05 is an original design. However, the FX-05's design is heavily influenced by the FX-05, and it shows: the rifle (and the magazines) is made from high quality materials,  safety & selector switches are located on both sides of the trigger, and picatinny railing is located on top of the gun, as well as under the barrel.

Barrett M82 Sniper Rifle: This rifle is practically the hand of god, cause if it's aimed at someone's head, there's no head afterwards. Work on the M82 began in the early 80s, and the first working models came out in 1982, hence the name. The rifle itself is massive, coming in at 30.9lb. It's range also speaks about the power of this gun, as it shoots up to 1800 meters. The rounds that the M82 fires standard .50 caliber rounds, or armor piercing explosive rounds.

M67 Grenade: An explosive ordinance given to the Mexican Army because of their alliance with the US, the M67 Grenade is a explosive device that is used by numerous countries all over the world, replacing the M61 grenade of Vietnam era, and the venerable MKII grenade of WW2. The device is filled with Composition B, an explosive material that can be found in a variety of ordinences. When the pin is pulled and the grenade is thrown, a 4 to 5 1/2 fuse burns down, then the device explodes, sending steel shrapnel out to 15 feet. Anyone within the radius will get killed immediately.

People's Liberation Army Weapons
QSZ-92 Pistol: The QSZ-92 is the People's Liberation Army's current sidearm. Development of the pistol started in 1994, and by 1999 was in limited service. The pistol is rather light, as it weighs just 760g. Despite the low weight, the QSZ-92 is capable of firing either Chinese 5.8mm or 9x19mm parabellum rounds from a 15-round magazine, and has a spot under the barrel for flashlight/lazer sight attachments.

QBZ-95 Assault Rifle: Despite it's somewhat hideous looks, the QBZ-95 (also known as the Type 95) is a effective firearm that appeared rather suddenly. It was first spotted in the hands of Chinese soldiers in the takeover of Hong-Kong in 1997, two years after it first came out. Observers noted the new bullpup rifle that the soldiers were carrying, and realized that it was nothing they had ever seen before. Today, the Type 95 is the PLA's primary assault rifle, as every part of the army has it. The rifle is very typical of the bullpup design: the magazine is located behind the trigger so barrel length won't be sacrificed, and the magazine has a curved shape to it. Back in 2010 & last year the gun was upgraded, as modification to the grip and barrel were included, as well as being able to use the new Chinese QLG-10A underbarrel grenade launcher.

M99 Sniper Rifle: Although this weapon is very below the sniping standards of western countries, the M99 can still effectively be used for countersniping and armor-piercing work, as it takes either M99-I or M99-II rounds from a 5-round box magazine. There actually isn't a lot of information known to the outside word about the M99, as the Chinese tend to be highly secretive about some of their guns. It is known that the M99 is a gas action operated sniper rifle, with a folding bipod, and picantinny is located on top, allowing the gun to accept a variety of scopes.

Chinese Stick Grenade: Based of the M24 Grenade the Germans used during WW2, this explosive was also used by the infamous Khmer Rouge during the mid to late 1970s. The grenade look a lot like it's German relative, and works just like it: a hallow wooden handle contained the detonation cord, and a metal cap was screwed onto the bottom to prevent the cord from being accidentally pulled. When it was time to use the grenade, the screw was loosened off, and the detonation cord was pulled. Because of the wooden handle, the grenade would stay on the exact same spot it landed on.
